About Us
The goal of Higher Education Access is to ensure that WVU students with disabilities receive an equal opportunity for a quality education at WVU. The Higher Education Access Project is striving to meet this goal by proivding several different services on campus. The program offers a variety of services for WVU faculty, administrators and students. Information and referral services through a toll-free hotline at 800-841-8436 and email at higheredaccess@hsc.wvu.edu are currently available for faculty, administrators and students to inquire with any questions regarding universal design in the classroom. The project will also be offering training on Universal Design in instruction and Assistive Technology to faculty and administrators who would like to participate. The training will be offered online as a non-credit extended learning course and participants will receive a certificate for completion. Stay tuned to the website for news about upcoming training opportunities.
The Higher Education Access Project will also be working with representatives from WVU OIT and Disability services on a Web Accessibility Board. The Board will help WVU web developers to design more accessible websites for students with disabilities. The project will also offer mini-grants to web developers at WVU who want to make their current websites more accessible.
